Everyday violences: perspectives on the experiences of girls and women in the municipality of Medellín, Colombia

Abstract:

This article’s results emerge as part of the analysis of some aspects of a 2015 field work within the framework of the research “Procesos de construcción social de la niñez en contextos de conflicto armado en el Eje Cafetero, Antioquia y Área Metropolitana de Bogotá: la paz, la reconciliación y la democracia desde la perspectiva de narrativas generativas de niños y niñas”. The article evidences, from the analysis of the narratives of children and women -participants of the research in one of the educational institutions that were part of the investigative process-, the violations to which girls and women are exposed because of gender stereotypes and everyday violence. Although the Colombian armed conflict generated violence against women and girls, they have lived and continue to experience daily violence, which affects their lives and bodies in many ways, which are strongly naturalized and coexist with armed violence or justify it.
