The aim of this abstract is to investigate the drainage basin of the Machado River using two techniques the RDE and river vertical profile. This river is part of the Rio Pardo drainage basin, located in the Sul de Minas Plateau and this research will supply other studies about landscape evolution of Brazilian southeast. The Machado River presents a very interesting course, which changes direction completely after the medium course. With the use of these techniques we intend to learn about the relief behavior, by the identification of the areas with evidences of neo-tectonics and the distribution pattern of the drainage basin.
