This text is based on partial results of the dissertation prepared in 2010 at UFRJ and also the doctoral thesis in preparation at UERJ. Continuing our research began in the first decade of this century, we prioritize four objectives: to identify the extent to which the inclusion in consulting renews the conservative heritage in Social Work; unraveling the impacts of precarious professional work processes; verify that the exercise of consulting hinders the relative autonomy of social workers and identify whether, in all professional actions, there are possibilities for a critical exercise of the profession.
