The article deals with the configurations of teaching nowadays, and it takes as determinations the counter-reform of the State and its link with the structural crisis of the capital. It stresses the anti-crisis measures taken both by international organizations and national governments, mainly the ones related to university education. It presents elements to question the implications of such a process in the training of social workers in Brazil
