Risk factors for nutritional lack of iron in six to sixty month old children in the perspective of the health field model

This is a transversal study made in a rural maranhense community with the goal to identify the factors associated with the occurrance of anemia for lack of iron. The population of the study was represented by six to sixty months children totalizing 371 children. The theoretician referential was the Health Field Model. Beyond the interview with the children's parents, blood and excrement examinations were made and anthropometric data of the children was collected. The association of anemia was significant related to the age of the child and to intestinal parasitism (Human Element Biology), to the frequency of the infantile diet (Element Lifestyle) and to the number of rooms of the house (Element Environment). It is the necessity of assistance activities of health and education proven subordinated to the environmental, biological and lifestyle characteristics, associated cure actions based on a continuous educative model for the child carrying nutritional lack of iron.
