Caring for street children through the perspective of nursing students

Street children go through experiences that damage their development. Nurses must search for alternatives in order to play a different role in the social inclusion of these children. This study has the following purpose: to enlist health intervention alternatives proposed by nursing students for children who live in such a social context. A qualitative method has been adopted with an exploratory and descriptive matrix in order to gather data. The data was organized in categories and analyzed by the method of content analysis. The results indicate that the students identify the nurse as an important part of the health team and with setting partnerships with social facility workers. The study also shows that the students are able to define specific nursing care among street children that values human needs in a social and political scenario.
