The aim of this study was to comprehend the meanings of work in the living process of workers in a Family Health Program of a town in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Based on a descriptive exploratory design, qualitative data was generated through interviews and focus groups with ten workers of a Family Health Program. Data was analysed using a qualitative analysis software - QSR Nvivo and interpreted through a proposed theoretical framework. According to the results of this study, work emerges as a network of meanings, which characterize it as a(n) (un) propelling process of human living of the workers in a Family Health Program.
