Antrhopology of care en Spanish nursing knowledge

Culture plays a fundamental role in the process of health-illness and especially in the context of care. We are immersed in a structure of multicultural societies where it is essential to redefine care situations and to incorporate new approaches from the field of Nursing and other disciplines. Anthropology knowledge and methodology can help the discipline of nursing to clarify and deal with the care situations and their symbolism. The aim of this article is to describe to what extent knowledge of Health Care Anthropology is present in the current academic nursing situation in Spain and to analyze the importance of this kind of knowledge and its future implications within the nursing academic field.
