A model of health vigilance: an exploratory study in the extreme South of Brazil

The aim of this study was to analyze the model of technological organization of Health Vigilance in 22 districts that comprise the Third Regional Health Department in Rio Grande do Sul state by examining present elements in its work process and the workes' profile. An exploratory, descriptive, and analytical approach was used and quantitative data were collected in structured interviews with 82 professionals who work in different services/environment in Health Vigilance. Data were statistically analyzed through frequency distribution, mean calculation, standard deviation, and variance analysis; besides, the post hoc test of Meaningful Mean Difference was used. Health Vigilance has a large number of workers, distributed in suveral areas of knowledge, which 66% of workers are female, with ages among 31 and 50 years, acting in the environment in Epidemiologic Surveillance. Besides, health Vigilance organized in promoting health pursuits the construction of a new attention model able to reorients the practices of health in National Health Care System.
