This study is a reflection upon nursing care through an ethical and political dimension, as well as some historical and philosophical aspects that characterize it. Patient care reveals the existences from where feelings, attitudes and actions like will, desires, inclinations and impulses derive, i.e., man against the world, other men, and against himself. To understand the value of nursing care requires an ethical conception that contemplates life itself as a valuable asset, starting by adding value to life as a way to respect other people in their complexities, their choices, including the choice of nursing as a profession.
