Nursing competence in problematizing the reality of health services in the context of the brazilian National Health Care System

The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact felt upon the work process of nurses who participate in the Specialization Course for Nursing Care Projects in relation to the competence of problematizing the reality of the health service currently seen in the Brazilian National Health Care System. It is a qualitative, ex-post fact study, carried out with 32 nurses from five Federal Institutions of Higher Learning in the south region of Brazil. Data were collected through interviews, using content analysis as the means adopted for data analysis. The results point to the positive impact in the development of competence, with most participants revealing that the relationship between the Brazilian National Health Care System and the health care services is much clearer as a result of the specialization course, due to the development of the problematization and contextualization processes necessary to demarcate a new posture; a new way of working with professionals, the users, and administrators; since the challenge of working collectively, to reunite different ideas, perceptions and practices has been seen.
