Reflections about health promotion on a bioethics

The article discusses health promotion from the sanitary model perspective. It is known as a group of elements of the theoretical, cultural and technical nature, which are expressed in the areas of work and health practices organization. The historical evolution of the ideas of health promotion presented different interpretations. There are two major tendencies. The first is focused on behaviour, expressed through actions that change lifestyle and habits, emphasizing risk factors and transferring the responsibility to the individual. In the second, the role of general determinants about health and life conditions is fundamental, because it is directly relegated to collective and individual life quality. This analysis reflects on ethics motivations expressed in both tendencies: the autonomy and responsibility principles. The Daily Bioethics of Berlinguer and the Protection Bioethics of Schramm are used as reference analysis.
