How the aringas became maroon communities in Mozambique

Runaway slaves in Mozambique gathered in several communities located in stronghold points named aringas. These aringas became maroon communities where armed slaves called achicunda became the most serious opponents to the Portuguese conquests between the late 19th century and the early 20th century.
