Otimização de termos fontes em modelos de biotransferência de calor em cirurgias oftalmológicas a laser

The eye surgeries using laser are procedures that need to be conducted with high precision. In these surgeries the laser acts as a heat source, heating and injuring the tissue. This process of bioheat transfer is an important phenomenon, since healthy adjacent tissues to the operated regions can experience thermal damages. The mathematical model of heat transfer in tissues is based in Pennes' equation and the respective numerical solution is provided by the finite volume method. The tissue thermal injury is quantified by a damage function. A Gaussian laser beam is studied and its attenuation follows the Beer-Lambert law. Three times of laser application are evaluated, considering a constant heat source. The Differentiated Evolution and the Particle Swarm optimization methods are used. The performance of each method is analyzed for different kind of acceptability of the thermal damage.
