This paper discusses theoretical aspects of the planning of information systems, under the perspectives of the Chaos Theory and Complexity. It describes the physical systems' characteristics, and the conceptions of Science, either as a closed system or as an open system. This paper also discusses the Management of Information with regard to both, the complexity of information systems, and their correlation with the business world; furthermore, it emphasizes the need for the information professionals to be capable to aptly plan their work, in face of the complex business scenario.
