The aim of this article is to consider the social representation of Afro-Brazilians in the Portuguese Language school textbooks. After analyzing two significant textual occurrences, we noticed that the Afro-Brazilians are represented in this learning material. However, what really predominates in these textbooks is the consideration of a fictional Afro-Brazilian, constructed by the social discourse, like characters of literature books for children or of the folklore.
