WE LEFT THE CINEMA WITH CLEANSED SOUL: MULTILITERACIES AND INTERDISCIPLINARY WORK ON PRODUCTION OF SHORT MOVIES WITH MEDIA ACCESSIBILITY

ABSTRACT

Teachers of early education have few opportunities to work together with their peers in an interdisciplinary way to create knowledge (not just reproducing it) and to use information and communication technologies. This type of work is only possible in communities of practice. The objective of this study is to discuss as a cooperative project with a specific purpose, can mobilize teachers who need to work in pairs, to develop their multiliteracies and build identities. To the data analyses of this study we showed the results gathered with the Project "Curta Capilé", developed in 2014 by the educational town office of São Leopoldo-RS Education, which involved 24 teachers from different areas of eleven public schools. This project aimed to train teachers in the use of technologies and interdisciplinary work, so that they could produce short movies that would use technologies that promote media accessibility. The results suggest a number of considerations on the social nature of learning and how this can be important for both teachers and students. With the commitment of all participants, short movies, when developed in the school as an assignment, become an important learning tool to develop skills and competencies of both students and teachers. Through multiliteracies, the method of inclusion was feasible: all movie spectators were invited to see how the audio description, subtitles and sign language as media accessibility resources include people with hearing and visual impairment. This work also allowed the close contact of the teachers involved in the proposal, who had to planned and work in groups. Furthermore, it promotes self-esteem improvement of students that also had to overcome technology barriers and use different types of languages, and technological tools leading to the formation of new identities.
