Abstract
This article analyzes how different images of women are constructed in the film España Heroica (1938 – Spanish version), a propaganda piece produced by the Nationalists during the Spanish Civil War. Our focus is on the internal organization of the film. The article aims to understand how specific evaluations – primarily related to women – appear staged in it. From a theoretical-methodological perspective, this care is central to authors such as Pierre Francastel and Pierre Sorlin. It should help us avoid recognizing what we already know about society or the era in the audiovisual product. We plan to highlight different types of female images throughout the film, discussing how they fit in with the Spain projected by the film, using the notion of (in)discipline as a guiding thread. To conclude, we provide a brief interpretation of a specific shot of the film.
