Modernity, tradition and reflectivity in contemporary Brazil

Modernity consists in a world civilization, constituting as such a tradition. Reflexivity, in several ways, has become ever more important in the development of modernity, which must be defined as a process, whose precise directions are taken according to more or less intentional movements of more or less (de) centred collective subjectivities. Moreover, previous traditions have not necessarily become spent forces with the advent of modernity. Through an analysis of the empirically oriented bibliography about the Brazilian contemporary society, this text tries to develop a general theoretical argument about the meaning of the Brazilian contemporary modernity.
