Alfa: Revista de Linguística (São José do Rio Preto) has been published since 1962 with the aim of encouraging the dissemination of ideas, proposals and research findings related to different theoretical and methodological perspectives in the field of language studies, both in Brazil and abroad. The journal, whose editor-in-chief is Roberto Gomes Camacho, is ranked as level A in the QUALIS/CAPES system. Alfa´s regular issues (published twice a year)  and special ones (published acoording to editorial interest) welcome papers, retrospectives, book reviews, interviews, and translations in any of the various branches of Linguistics.

Its abbreviated title is Alfa, Rev. Linguíst. (São José Rio Preto), which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.
