Historical: The first publication of the Oceanographic Institute in 1950, the Boletim do Instituto Paulista de Oceanografia, has been highlighted as a diffuser of original research in the field of oceanography. Published from 1950 to 1951, in 1952 was called Boletim do Instituto Oceanográfico until 1996.
From 1996 to 2003, was named Revista Brasileira de Oceanografia and finally in 2004, Brazilian Journal of Oceanography.daiming to broaden the dissemination the world.

Periodicity: semiannual

Its abbreviated title is Bolm inst. paul. oceanogr., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.
