| The first issue of the Brazilian Journal of Biology
was published in April 1941 under the name Revista Brasileira de Biologia,
after the establishment of Sociedade de Biologia do Brasil and it was financed
by the philanthropist Guilherme Guinle. Only in 1971 the journal came to
be published by Academia
Brasileira de Ciências. As from 1998, it has been published by
de Ecologia, and in 2000 had its name modified to Brazilian Journal
Its purpose is to publish articles with the results of original research in any branch of Biological Sciences. The Editorial board coordinates the assessment of the articles submitted. It is a quarterly publication.
The abbreviation of its title is Braz. J. Biol. , and it should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic strips.
