Manuscript and copyright

Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review or thesis); that is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; that its publication has been approved by all coauthors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities at the institute where the work has been carried out; that if or when the manuscript is accepted for publication the authors agree to automatic transfer of the copyright to the Sociedade Brasileira de Matemática Aplicada e Computacional; that the manuscript will not be published elsewhere in any language without the consent of the copyright holders; and that written permission of the copyright holder is obtained by the authors for material used from other copyrighted sources.

Accepted material will be copyrighted in the name of Sociedade Brasileira de Matemática Aplicada e Computacional and should therefore not infringe upon any other outstanding copyright.

The copyright covers the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article (e.g., as offprints), as well as all translation rights. No material published in this journal may be reproduced photograpically or stored on microfilm, in electronic databases, video discs, etc., without first obtaining written permission from the Editors.

The use of general descriptive names, trade names, trademarks, etc., in this publication, even if not specifically identified, does not imply that these names are not protected by the relevant laws and regulations.

Copies of articles and complete sets of Computational & Applied Mathematics are available, in hard copy.

Form and preparation of manuscripts

Manuscripts must be submitted in English and should preferably be about 15 pages long. Manuscripts should be prepared with wide margins and printed on one side of the page only.

On the first page of the manuscript the author should provide a title; name and complete address for correspondence (including, if available, e-mail and/or fax addresses); a self contained abstract without long formulas (short enough to be published in English); keywords; and the Mathematics Subject Classification 2000. References should be prepared in numerical order. The following examples are given as a guide.

[1] A. Friedman, Partial Differential Equations of Parabolic Type, Prentice Hall, Englewood Cliffs (1964).

[2] K.L. Cooke and J.A. Yorke, Some equations modelling growth processes and gonorrhea epidemics, Mathematical Biosciences, 16 (1973), pp. 75–101.

[3] J. Hale, Theory of Functional Differencial Equations, Applied Mathematical Sciences, 3 (1977), Springer-Verlag.

If reference is made of a paper or report that would be difficult to obtain, the authors are expected to enclose with their manuscript a copy of that paper or report.

Abbreviations should be defined at their first occurrence in the text, except for official, standard abbreviations. Units and their symbols should conform to those approved by the ABNT or by the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (SI).

Sending of manuscripts

Electronic files. Manuscripts must be submmitted in Tex. It is preferable to use Latex2 e with the amsart document class. All packages from AMS are also supported. All non-standard macros must also be included in the file, and then submitted using link: http://submission.scielo.br/index.php/cam/index. When formatting the disk, please use either an IBM (or IBM compatible) or Macintosh disk.

Illustrations. We encourage authors to submit illustrations in electronic form. Images should be sent in the format (.TIF) or encapsulated postcript (.EPS). Line art illustrations should be sent using encapsulated postscript (.EPS). The native format of the illustration program used should also be included.

As a rule, papers will be refereed by, at least two experts. The final decision for publication or refusal will rest upon the editorial committee, comprised of the Editors and the Associated Editors.

Acceptance. Upon acceptance of the article, the author(s) will be requested to supply a final copy prepared in some form of TeX, as suggested above. If electronic copy is supplied, the publication of the manuscript will be accelerated. Proofs will be returned to the author for final approval before publication and the usual charge made for author's alterations over 10% of composition cost.

Twenty five offprints are supplied to the corresponding author free of charge.
