cadernos pagu is an interdisciplinary triennial publication whose objective is to contribute to the expansion and strengthening of the interdisciplinary field of gender studies, giving visibility to studies conducted in Brazil and promoting the international exchange of knowledge about the problematic. It publishes articles that have never been published before that offer original scientific contributions, and which collaborate towards theoretical and methodological innovation, and aggregate innovative empiric knowledge and discussions about relevant theoretical texts in the field of gender studies. It thus makes viable the diffusion of knowledge in the field and the critical reading of international production.
cadernos pagu is a scientific journal that can be accessed free of charge. All of the material published, even that in the period prior to its indexation on SciELO, is available at http://www.pagu.unicamp.br/pt-br/cadernos-pagu e http://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/cadpagu
It has published contributions from the following fields: anthropology, sociology, history, political science, language and literature, linguistics, the history of science and education. More recently, it has also published articles from fields such as law, psychology, communications, public health and social service. It stimulates the publication of articles from different disciplinary fields, given that they establish a discussion with gender and feminist theories, seeking articulation about gender and other differences (such as race and ethnicity, culture, class, age and generation, sexuality and others). Contributions are welcome in Portuguese, Spanish or English.
The publication of cadernos pagu began in 1993 and since then the journal has been contributing to the establishment of the field of gender studies in Brazil. The journal was created at a time when gender studies had gained academic legitimacy in the country and the intention was to expand its visibility, promoting and stimulating the production of knowledge in the field.
The creation of the cadernos pagu was the result of more than ten years of readings, studies and debates, during which members of the Nucleus of Gender Studies – Pagu mapped the advances in studies about gender and their impasses. The first issue was edited entirely by members of the Nucleus, and the articles sketched some of these concerns. Between the second and third issue, the publication redefined its editorial policy and simultaneously opened up to contributions from Brazilian and foreign researchers. To do so, it established a body of ad-hoc reviewers and the Editorial Committee and Editorial Board were created. Since the fifth issue, the journal has had financing from outside the university.
In fact, there are two moments in the history of the publication, which are visible in various aspects of the journal, that are related to obtaining support from various agencies, including FAPESP, FAEPEx (the Research, Education and Extension Support Fund of Unicamp) and particularly, CNPq, which has provided the most important support in terms of resources and continuity since 1996. These financing sources were crucial to the growth of the publication, not only for improving the graphic quality and incorporating more articles, but also to facilitate adaptation to editorial norms, expansion of the Editorial Board and registration in various national and international indexes.
The abbreviated title is Cad. Pagu, which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic notes.
