Instructions to authors

Focus and Scope

The journal Cadernos de Tradução presents in its content: original articles, translated articles related to Translation Studies, book reviews on translation (theory, history, criticism), reviews of translated works, and interviews with translators, professors, and authorities in the field of Translation Studies.

The journal's target audience consists mainly of undergraduate and graduate students, professors, editors, translators, writers, and researchers in the field of translation and related areas, both foreign and Brazilian.

The journal accepts submissions on an ongoing basis.

Cadernos de Tradução does not take responsibility for or endorse the opinions expressed by the authors of the texts published in it, emphasizing that the opinions are their responsibility.

Peer Review Process

The articles, interviews, and reviews submitted to Cadernos de Tradução are sent to the editor-in-chief, assistant editors, and editorial board members of the journal for an initial review. This review is an initial assessment to verify if the text aligns with the journal's guidelines.

After this preliminary evaluation, the papers are sent for assessment to reviewers who are part of the Editorial Board, Advisory Council, or ad hoc reviewers, depending on the work's topic. Authors who have already published in the journal may be invited to provide reviews/evaluations.

All reviewers receive the articles through the journal system, and the evaluation can be done blindly or openly. This last one is only if there is agreement between the author and the reviewer. In addition to the manuscript for evaluation, reviewers receive a standard evaluation form and a "conflict of interest" declaration, which must be signed and sent to the journal's editor-in-chief.

Note: there is a conflict of interest when an author (or the author's institution), reviewer or editor has financial or personal relationships that inappropriately influence their actions (bias).

The manuscripts may be:

- Accepted without restrictions
- Accepted with some changes
- Rejected

Decisions regarding both accepted and rejected submissions will be communicated to the authors. The Editorial Team reserves the right not to provide reasons for rejections.

The journal reserves the right to evaluate only one manuscript per author per year.

Regarding including images, the responsibility for obtaining reproduction rights shall solely lie with the authors. The journal does not take responsibility for the images submitted. The condition must be accepted by the author upon submission through the portal, as the following model:

"I declare that I am the author, licensee, assignee, or have prior and explicit permission from the author for the use and reproduction of the images found in the manuscript I am submitting for publication in the SciELO-indexed journal Cadernos de Tradução, ISSN 2175-7968, submitted through the UFSC Portal de Periódicos.

Where prior permission has not been obtained to reproduce the work of third parties, according to Brazilian law (Articles 24, 29 and 46 of the Lei brasileira de Direitos Autorais), full responsibility for any copyright violation is assumed by the declarant."

All communication with the journal must be done through the following email addresses: suporte.cadernostraducao@contato.ufsc.br or ecadernos@gmail.com

The submission of papers must be made exclusively through the journal’s website. For full access to the journal, the author must create a profile as an 'author' and automatically obtain a login and access password at: https://periodicos.ufsc.br/index.php/traducao/login
