Educação em Revista is a quarterly journal of the Graduate Education Program of the Faculdade de Educação (FAE) at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) that seeks to spread scientific knowledge in the field of education. It publishes original articles that effectively contribute for the advancement of educational research. It accepts manuscripts presenting: 1) results of empirical or theoretical research, or 2) systematic and critical reviews that integrate scientific and academic production in the area.

In addition, at the discretion of its editors, it publishes Book reviews, tributes, interviews, conferences and other types of texts. Also, it extraordinarily publishes, at the discretion of its editors Thematic dossiers gathered through calls for submissions and intended for the review of emerging areas and/or issues arising from educational research. Manuscripts that have been submitted to other journals are not accepted. Manuscripts for which a preliminary version has been published in the proceedings of scientific events are accepted for evaluation. Manuscripts in Portuguese, Spanish, and English are published.

Educação em Revista dopts the "Ahead of Print" system, were approved manuscripts are published in electronic media before they are published in print. Its abbreviated title is Educ. Rev This abbreviation should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographic references.
