Scope and editorial policy

1- Journal profile

Educação em Revista is a quarterly journal that seeks to spread scientific knowledge in the field of education. It publishes original articles that effectively contribute to the advancement of educational research.

2 – Peer review process

Assuring the Blind Evaluation: To assure the integrity of the double-blind peer review to submissions to the magazine, all the possible precautions have to be made so the identity of the authors and evaluators is not revealed between them during the process.
This demands that authors, editors and evaluators (that might send documents to the system as a part of the evaluation process) take some precautions with the text and the document properties:

  1. The document authors must exclude their names from the text, replacing them with “Author” and the year in references and footnotes.
  2. In Microsoft Office documents, the author’s identification must be removed from the document properties (in the menu Archive > Properties), starting at Archive, in the main menu, and clicking the sequence: Archive > Save as... > Tools (or Mac Options) > Security > Remove personal information from this file on save > OK > Save.
  3. In PDFs, the author’s names must be removed from the Document Properties also, in Archive at the main menu of the Adobe program.

After the manuscripts are received they undergo a preliminary evaluation by the editors establishing whether they fit into the journal's editorial policy.

The papers are sent to plagiarism control systems to verify their authenticity.
At this moment, papers that contain any of the below items will be refused:

1) About the development

  1. are not original texts;
  2. don’t approach a central problematic in the educational field;
  3. are merely descriptive, without a theoretical critic analysis of the approached matter;
  4. don’t present relevant contribution to the approached theme analysis;
  5. don’t present empiric elements or argumentation well developed that substantiate it’s conclusions;
  6. are experience reports;
  7. are bibliographic revision;
  8. are parts of a dissertation or thesis, without the configuration of an academic paper;
  9. are part of a project or research report.

2) About the shape:

  1. haven’t been submitted to a previous orthographic revision, presenting excessive writing and/or textual construction errors;
  2. aren’t written in a clear way;
  3. don’t have the form of a scientific paper of the Humanities
  4. don’t follow all of the magazine rules.

In case they decide for it’s conduct, the editors will forward the paper for merit evaluation to, minimum, two evaluators, selected from the CNPq’s Research Group Directory and/or other databases. The evaluators recommend, then, it’s acceptance, refusal, approval with obligatory corrections or indicate that the paper should be rewritten and sent for another evaluation round. In the last two cases, the rewritten paper will be revaluated for final decision. All of the feedback are sent to the author(s). Evaluators and author(s) are not identified.

The contributions in the form of Review, Open Word, Conference, Tribute and Interview are evaluated by the Editorial Team, that will decide on the pertinence of it’s publication according to the goals of each section and adequacy of the texts to the magazine’s norms.
