Einstein (São Paulo) is the official scientific journal published quarterly by the Instituto Israelita de Ensino e Pesquisa Albert Einstein, ISSN 1679-4508. It aims at recording scientific production and contributions made by the healthcare community.

Einstein (São Paulo) medical journal had its first edition launched  in 2003 as an innovative  proposal of Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira  Albert Einstein, with the objective  of being a general journal , creating its own place and becoming  a new  information vehicle for health workers, disclosing researches generated by the national and international scientific communities as well as the Institution itself. Since its beginning it was always published in English, on paper and on-line, in Portuguese on-line, emphasizing  peer review  for all articles.

Originally, one only journal gathered two lines  of action effectively , one academic and the other to update scientific information. The academic part published original articles, case reports, reviews, besides editorials, letters to the Editor, about the journal page and agenda. The second part called Continuous Education in Health encompassed various sub sections in order to present the updating process as an agreeable one.

In 2005 the on-line system for articles'  management was created. In 2006 there was a splitting between the two parts, Einstein (São Paulo), the academic part, starting to have its  independence and, the second part,  the so called Continuous Education in Health was now on its own, and received an ISSN. Also in 2006, Einstein (São Paulo) was indexed on LILACS database, increased the articles' numbers to 15 by number making up to 60 per year. It included new sections as Reviewing Basic Sciences, Learning by Images and  Medical Developments.  In 2008 an award was created, then called “Einstein (São Paulo) = scientific journal Award ”which in 2010 had its name changed to “Eric Roger Wroclawski Award” in honor of its first Editor. From 2011 on a new section on Health Economics and Management was created to publish original articles on this area.
