Genetics and Molecular Biology ISSN 1415-4757 - (formerly named Revista Brasileira de Genética/Brazilian Journal of Genetics - ISSN 0100-8455) is published quarterly by the Sociedade Brasileira de Genética (Brazilian Society of Genetics)

Genetics and Molecular Biology begins with vol. 21, issue 1, of March 1998, following the sequence of numbering of its predecessor, which was published from 1978 to 1997, V. 1 to V. 20.

Genetics and Molecular Biology considers contributions that present the results of original research in genetics, evolution and related scientific disciplines.

The journal's short title is Genet. Mol. Biol., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.

Due to the rise in the number of submissions and increased costs due to improvements in our service to authors (online submission, language and technical editing, color pages and Ahead-of-Print publishing), Genetics and Molecular Biology will have to cover these costs by means of a publication charge for all accepted articles.

The publication charge is: US$ 500 for submissions from abroad, or R$ 800 for authors from Brazil.

Manuscripts submitted by a corresponding author who is a Member-in-good-standing of the Sociedade Brasileira de Genética are exempt from publication charges. Other authors may request a waiver, which will be judged by the editor based on sound reasoning. Waiver requests must be made at submission, with reasons given in the Cover Letter.

This publication charge will apply to manuscripts submitted after April 30, 2011.
