Basic information
INTERAÇÕES - Revista Internacional de Desenvolvimento Local is a periodical created by the Post-Graduate Program in Local Development – Master’s Degree and Doctorate, hierarchically linked to the Research and Postgraduation Dean’s Office. Since its first edition, in September of 2000, the periodical aims to give information, for the adoption of new local forms of social behavior efficient forms for the generation of endogenous development, according to means, rules and appropriate strategies, respecting cultural diversity and autonomous management of resources and technical characteristics of territories. It also became an imperative, towards the Stricto Sensu Post-Graduate Program in Local Development – Master’s Degree and Doctorate, for the consolidation of publications that would contribute not only for the formation of researchers and, consequently, for the scientific development, but also for the constant knowledge updates on the Local Development area. It aims, therefore, to suggest a character of diversity, which is present in notions of nature that are widely shared worldwide. Also the photograph on the cover makes clear one of the greatest concerns of the researchers in the area of knowledge in question: the development on a human scale, or man placed in the center of the development process. |

Responsibilities of the editor-in-chief According to the standards set out in the SciELO Guide and followed by Interações, transparency and quality control are essential qualities of the editorial process. The responsibilities of the editors-in-chief pervades the implementation of editorial policy, the supervision of the editorial process and the relations of the journal with authors, reviewers, readers, indexers, research support agencies, the scientific community and the general public (SCIELO, 2018, p. 2). Conduct of the researcher/author/co-author Regarding best practices for strengthening the ethics in scientific publication, the editorial process, after complying with the formal aspects required, ensures that all authors review and take accountability for the content and record the contribution of each one at the end of the manuscript (SCIELO, 2018, p. 2). Any conduct that may represent a violation of the values and defining principles of ethical integrity in scientific research is termed misconduct in the relations among researchers. Scientific misconduct should be measured by the degree of involvement in a clear intention of plagiarism, defraud or by the type of deviation from accepted practices by the scientific academy. The most frequent serious misconduct is as follows:
Ethics in scientific publication Prevention and denial of articles with misconduct Because we do not encourage any improper conduct of research, the Editorial Board and the editors-in-chief of the journal Interações have been working to prevent and not publish articles in which misconduct has occurred. The position of the Editorial Board and editors-in-chief The responsible editor is responsible for the final decision regarding the submitted articles, based on the policies decided by the Editorial Board, the Scientific Committee and the journal’s Editorial Board. These policies obey the legal requirements currently in force on defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism. Any allegation of improper conduct of research should be immediately investigated. If there is any impediment for ethical or legal reasons, accessibility to studies may be prevented. The ICMJE recommends that authorship be based on the following 4 criteria:
The process of in-text citation It is important that all types of citations of documents (articles, books, etc.), as well as data, codes, research materials, are duly cited in the article and pointed out in the references, as a way of recognizing the original intellectual contributions of the respective authors of the cited contents (SCIELO, 2019, p. 3). Of the review process The reviewers’ posture Reviewers must declare, in the journal’s system, that there are no conflicts of interest when conducting an evaluation; that is, they should disclose to the editors any relationships or activities that could bias their opinions on the manuscript and should refuse to review specific manuscripts if there is potential for (ICMJE, 2019, p. 2).
