About the journal

Basic Information

Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures, LAJSS, is a technical journal in the field of engineering.

LAJSS has the financial support of the Brazilian Research Funding Agency CNPq and it is indexed in the WEB OF SCIENCE, SCOPUS, DOAJ, EBSCO and SOCOLAR. It is rated by CAPES as QUALIS A2 and B1 for Engineering I and III, respectively.

LAJSS is a free journal for readers, with on-line version. Most of the funds to sustain LAJSS comes from APC, Article Processing Charge, a fee charged to the authors of accepted papers only.

The Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures is a forum for publication and dissemination of original work related to mechanical and civil engineering sciences. It is published continuously and as for 2018 it published some 120 articles, having a rejection rate for that year around 75%.

Researchers all over the world are welcome to submit their papers covering theoretical, numerical and experimental topics in continuum and applied mechanics, in both their linear and non-linear aspects.

Its abbreviated title is Lat. Am. J. Solids Struct. (online) which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.

Format and preparation of manuscripts

LAJSS published only full technical and original articles. Authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. The submission has not been previously published.

2. The submission file is in pdf format.

3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

4. The LAJSS (Latin American Journal of Solids and Structures) accepts only articles written in English. All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. Authors may submit their articles in free format. It is advisable though that the article is organized in a typical structure of Title, Authors, Abstract, Keywords, Text, References, and Appendices.

5. All articles are peer-reviewed.

6. Once accepted, an article is typeset according to the journal layout. There is no need at the submission stage, to format the article in a specific way, except for noting that the references are numbered in alphabetical order of the first surname author.

7. The abstract should contain the main points described in the text, in no more than half a page. There is no limit of references cited but the maximum number of pages per article, in its published form, should not exceed 30. Figures must be of good quality, unlimited file size, and vectored made.

8. With effect from 1st. January 2019, LAJSS journal require that all authors and co-authors to have a valid ORCID in the submission system. For personal inscription go to https://orcid.org/signin.
