ABOUT THE JOURNAL

Basic information

Motriz is a scientific journal, which is published quarterly by the Department of Physical Education, Institute of Biosciences, São Paulo State University, at Rio Claro, State of São Paulo, Brazil.

Motriz was launched in 1995. Its founding editors-in-chief were Dr. Benedito Sérgio Denadai, Dr. Mauro Betti, and Dr. Suraya Cristina Darido. Until 2001, Motriz published biannually, with approximately 15 articles per year. In 2002, Motriz began to publish quarterly, and increased its volume to 25 articles per year. By 2006, Motriz had achieved significant improvements in quality and volume, resulting in the publication of 40 articles per year, as well as its inclusion in the LILACS database (on April 17, 2008). In 2009, Motriz was accepted in the ISI-Web of Science, one of the most important international databases. In 2010, Motriz earned its indexing in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), an electronic library that includes Brazilian scientific journals. Since 2007, Motriz has published articles exclusively in electronic format (i.e., SEER system). Motriz uses the Open Journal Systems 2.3.7.0, which is open source journal management and publishing software, developed, supported, and freely distributed by the Public Knowledge Project under the GNU General Public License, allowing free-of-charge and unrestricted access to its contents. Online-only submission is permitted, and, after successful registration in the Journal’s website, it is the author’s responsibility to update documents and personal information. Submissions by regular mail, with documents printed on paper or in digital media, are not accepted.

Motriz encourages manuscript submissions from professionals and researchers in all areas of human movement science, including physical education and sport, physical therapy, special education, sports psychology, biomechanics, biodynamics, sports coaching, physical activity, morphology and health, coordination and control of motor skills, body image, modernity and postmodernity, endocrine-metabolic physiology and exercise, physical education, movement and mood states, professional preparation and the marketplace, and other relevant themes in the area.

Its abbreviated title is Motriz: J. Phys. Ed., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.
