Opinião Pública is an academic journal covering articles about theory and methodology in the field of political and social behavior, theory of public opinion and theory of representation, studies about media and political culture. It was established in 1993 by the Center for Studies on Public Opinion of the University of Campinas and in addition to the subjects of the international contemporary political science, OP publishes the issues of the social sciences according to its specific methods and methodologies. Opinião Pública is ranked by Qualis/Capes as scientific journal in stratum A1.
Opinião Publica is a quadrimestral publication. Untill 2014, the journal brought an annual edition of the supplement “Tendências”_Trends, which covers issues on political and social behavior based on national survey data that comes from the CESOP National Survey Data Bank. Until 2013 OP was a semestral publication.
Opinião Pública publishes articles in Portuguese, Spanish and English languages, and receives articles throughout the year, in a continuous flow system. The articles are evaluated by the Editorial Board and strictly forwarded to blind peer review.
The abbreviated title of the journal is Opin. Pública, which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and strips.
