INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

 

Aim and editorial policy

The Revista de Antropologia is a semi-annual publication of the Departamento de Antropologia of the Faculdade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas of the Universidade de São Paulo (University of São Paulo) - FFLCH/USP.

Its aim is to publish articles, reviews and translations from national and international researchers that are in conformity with the anthropology concerns.

 

Presentation of originals

1. Articles
  • Articles should not exceed 30 pages (about 6,000 words or 40,000 characters). Two hard copies should be submitted along with a diskette (prepared in Word for Windows), containing the text, abstracts, and keywords both in Portuguese and English.
  • All submitted originals will be analysed by two reviewers. Based on the results of this evaluation, the Advisory Editorial Board will decide about the viability of their publication. The selection process ensures authors’ and reviewers’ anonymity.
  • Citations should be numbered consecutively, and presented at the end of the text. In the text, citations of authors should only include: (author last name, date) or (author last name, date:page). Ex.: (Montero, 1983) or (Montero, 1983:245). Different works of the same author published in the same year should be identified by a letter just after the date. Ex.: (Lévi-Strauss, 1967a), (Lévi-Strauss, 1967b).
  • Bibliography should be presented at the end of the text, and should follow the standards below:

a) books: last name (in capital letters) and first name of the author, year of publication, title of the book in italic, place of publication, publisher, edition. Ex.:

DA MATTA, R.
1976 Um mundo dividido: A estrutura social dos índios Apinayé, Petrópolis, Vozes.

b) book chapters: last name (in capital letters) and first name of the author, year of publication, title of the text within quotation marks, in last name (in capital letters) and first name of the  editor (ed.), title of the book in italic, place of publication, publisher, edition, first page-last page. Ex.:

Vidal, L.
1992 "Pintura corporal e arte gráfica entre os Kaiapó-Xicrin do Cateté", in Vidal, L. (org.), Grafismo Indígena: estudos de antropologia estética, São Paulo, Studio Nobel / FAPESP / EDUSP, pp. 143-89.

c) articles: last name (in capital letters) and first name of the author, year of publication, title of the article within quotation marks, title of the journal in italic, place of publication, issue number:first page-last page, month of publication, publisher. Ex.:

Marcus, G.
1991 "Identidades passadas, presentes e emergentes: requisitos para etnografias sobre a modernidade, no final do século XX a nível mundial", Revista de Antropologia, São Paulo, vol. 34:197-221.

d) theses: last name (in capital letters) and first name of the author, year of publication, title of the thesis in italic, place of publication, number of pages, dissertation (master) or thesis (PhD), institution. Ex.:

ANTERO, M.
1993 Identidades negras no Brasil contemporâneo, São Paulo, pp. 150, dissertação, USP.

2. Reviews

Critical and informative reviews should not exceed 6 pages.

3. Translations

Only one translation will be published for journal issue.
