Scope and Policy
The Revista do Departamento de Psicologia - UFF has a periodicity of one per semester and uses the ABNT standardization for presentation of articles in printed scientific periodic publications. (6022/2003 and 6021/2003)
Its purpose is to publish unpublished works of national and international authors, in portuguese, spanish, english and french in the following categories:
Research reports: reports of research based on empiric data, using scientific methodology (Maximum 20 pages)
Theoretic study: analysis of theoretic constructs and concepts that question the existing models and raise questions and hypothesis for future researches (Maximum 20 pages)
Professional experience narration: case study with conceptual analysis and description of the intervention proceedings. (Maximum 14 pages)
Statements: interviews with people whose life stories or professional achievements are relevant to the knowledge of the history of Psychology and related fields. (Maximum 15 pages)
Debates: historical or nowadays themes, purposed by the editors or by collaborators and debated for specialists who expose their points of view (written or through audio recorded). On the first case, the collaborators can suggest issues and participants, assuming responsibility for the graphic work, for the interaction among participants and for the final edition of the text. The live debate, when not organized by the journal, can be submitted as a recorded tape or as the transcription of it, partially edited, being the final edition responsibility of the editors of the Revista do Departamento de Psicologia - UFF (Maximum 30 pages).
Research notes: preliminary report, shorter and simpler than an article, emphasizing hypothesis, progress and difficulties of on-going researches, mentioning sources, methods and techniques used and the unfolds previewed. (Maximum 10 pages)
Abstracts: critical analysis of published works and subjects concerning the flux of information through computer nets and informatics databases. (Maximum 10 pages)
Events: abstracts of research and extension works presented in scientific congresses with the participation of graduation students. The abstracts must contain a maximum of 500 words, in "times new roman", size 12, simple spaced, title centralized and in capitals, with indication of the authors, the name of the supervisor in the last place, address for correspondence and the supervisor e-mail, institutional affiliation of the authors, three key-words, name of the event in which the work was presented, place and date. The text must be continuous, without paragraphs or tabulation, subtitles, references, illustration or tables. It must contain the financing agency. The abstracts must present, in a clear way, the objectives of the work, without references, including the most important ideas of the specific literature in the subject. The material and methods must be described, including subjects, equipment, techniques and other strategies used. The description of the results must contain the synthesis of what was obtained and, if that´s the case, expose the measures and the results of the statistic proofs applied. The conclusion must be based on the presented data, being convenient to make references to the objectives or hypothesis previously described.
Abstracts of thesis, dissertation and academic works: brief description of mastership dissertation and doctorship or free-docency thesis (Maximum 1,5 pages)
The submitted articles are primarily evaluated to verify if they are written according to the standards of the Journal publication. If there are any flaws in the standardization of the articles, the secretary of the Journal will make contact with the authors asking for the necessary corrections. Once this is made, the articles are sent to the evaluators (blind review). They are doctored professors, of renamed knowledge in psychology field, especially on the main subject of the article to be evaluated. The evaluators are asked to emit their opinion by the Chief Editor.
Each article is evaluated for two estimators, who express their final evaluation according to the following items:
( ) Should be published, with priority. It is not necessary to be reviewed.
In the case that both the evaluators mark one of the first two options, the article is included on the list of approved works, ready for publication, and the author receives a letter informing that his/her article was approved for publication in the Journal. When one of the evaluators marks the third option, the author receives letter from the Journal followed by the evaluation on which are indicated the necessary corrections to publish the article. The evaluations are given to the authors without the indication of the name of the evaluators. Once the author obeys the requests presented in the evaluation, the article is once again submitted to the evaluator so he can verify if the changes made on the article are enough for its approval. If both evaluators indicate that the article shouldn´t be published, the author receives a letter informing that the article was not accepted for publication. When both evaluators emit conflictive evaluations, one approving the article and other not approving its publication, a third doctored professor is invited to give his opinion. In this case, the article will be considered ready for publication when two of the three evaluators considerate that the article must be published. In the same way, the article will be considered non-indicated for publication when two of the three evaluators considerate that the article should not be published in the Journal.

Form and preparation of the manuscripts
The works will be appreciated by the Editorial Commission, which will decide about its acceptance and, if necessary, suggest some structure and content modifications to the author.
The editor has the right to make changes or cuts on the submitted works to adapt them to the standards of the journal, respecting the contents and the style of the author. The authors will be notified about the acceptance or refusal of their articles. The originals, even when not used, will not be returned.
Each and every submission to the Journal must be accompanied of a letter signed by the main author, on which it must be exposed the intention of submission of the work for publication. In the case of multiple authors, the letter must be signed by all authors.
The presentation of the works must follow the order as presented:
The illustrations (table, graphic design, maps, schemes, flux chart, org chart and others) must have the necessary quality for a good graphic reproduction. They must be delivered on separated files from the text, on the program they have been created (Excel, Corel Draw, Photo Shop etc.), identified on the bottom with its title and subtitle, and preceded by the designative word, followed by its number according to the order of appearance in the text, in arabic numbers, as Graphic 1, Graphic 2, etc, and the source.
The tables must be identified on the superior part and must obey the Standard of Tabular Presentation (Normas de Apresentação Tabular) of IBGE (1993).

The quotations must be indicated on the text, between parentheses, according to the NBR 10520:2002.

The quotations in the text are transcribed using double quotation marks, in the case of short direct quotation, up to 3 lines, being incorporated to the paragraph. When the direct quotation is longer than 3 lines, it must be incorporated on a separated paragraph, with a 4cm border from the left, without quotation marks.
The explicative notes, restricted to the minimum necessary, must be presented on the end of the text.
The references must be presented on the end, obeying the standard NBR 6023:2002.

Remitting the manuscripts
The original texts or articles must be sent in three printed copies, using double space, on A4 paper (210mm x 297mm), in pages with maximum of 30 lines, accompanied of a diskette or CD-ROM, made on Word for Windows, version 7.0 or previous, size 12 and with all the pages numbered, without any kind of formatting, except for:
