INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

Scope and policy

REAd is open to all topics relating to management of organizations. REAd sporadically publishes thematic special issues in English, electronically, and also in hard copy.

Manuscripts should only be submitted in electronic form, via e-mail: read@ea.ufrgs.br. REAd subjects the manuscripts received to a peer review process. They are then given a code and referred for pre-assessment. After which they are sent to reviewers, without the authors and institutions being identified (blind review). The authors’ names will be revealed only when the article or case is published. REAd adopts a continuous flow policy, so that an author may send a manuscript at any time. Deadlines for the submission of manuscripts are only applied in the case of the special editions. See also "Evaluation Mechanisms".

Assessment Criteria:

  1. Topic (current and relevant)
  2. Aims (clear and well defined)
  3. Literature review (reflects the state-of-the-art in the field of knowledge)
  4. Conceptual or theoretical consistency of the work (adequate and well-structured)
  5. Research method used (clearly defined and consistent with the objectives of the work)
  6. Data analysis and results (correct interpretation of the data and combined with the theoretical basis)
  7. Conclusions (clear, objective and supported by the research data)
  8. Contribution (towards the particular field of knowledge)
  9. Writing and organization of the text (spelling, grammar, clarity, objectivity and formal structure)

The manuscripts should be scientific (see required specifications) and provide research results or a contribution to the Management field.

The paper must be unpublished, that is, it must not be under review by or be published in another journal. NOTE: Papers presented at scientific congresses and published in proceedings may be acceptable.

Manuscripts should conform to the ABNT standards and the parameters established in the Submissions Standards. Important! The article should be less than 1MB.

The author may submit the outcome of a teaching case. For this purpose, the recommendations for presentation of cases in the Submissions Standards should be adopted. As with manuscripts, teaching cases must have been published in another journal. The authors can submit their manuscripts and cases to the current editions of Reader in Portuguese, Spanish or English. The full article will be published in the language in which it is submitted. Please note that in the special editions, as from 2003, full papers should be submitted and published only in English. Manuscripts, together with the author registration form (see the "Forms") should be sent to the REAd’s e-mail. The first author of an manuscript accepted for publication shall, when receiving confirmation of acceptance by e-mail, complete and sign the Copyright Assignment Form (see the section "Forms") and forward it to REAd.
