Journal of Physical Education/UEM, is published quarterly that aims to disseminate knowledge and research related to the area of Physical Education. It is opened to physical education teachers and to professionals from correlated areas who wish to link their productions in the following sections: original paper, revision paper and opinion paper.

Mission

Promote the dissemination of scientific and unpublished original research in relevant topics to the theoretical and practical debate to contribute to the academic development of Physical Education.

Peer Review Process

All articles submitted will be reviewed by at least two reviewers with expertise and professional competence in their area, which will be used by editors to decide on acceptance. The criteria for evaluating the articles include: originality, contribution to the knowledge in physical education methodological consistence, clarity and timeliness. Articles accepted for publication will undergo editorial revisions to facilitate clarity and understanding without altering its contents.

Publication Frequency

The Journal of Physical Education / EMU is a quarterly (Mar/Jun/Sep/Dec.). 500 copies are printed on paper and the magazine is available free in online format.

Open Access Policy

Author Guidelines

knowledge production related to the area of Physical Education. Is open to physical education teachers and professionals in related fields who want to publish their research in the following sections: original article, review article and opinion piece.

ORIGINAL ARTICLES: They are works resulting from scientific research findings by presenting original data regarding aspects of experimental or observational feature medical, social and biochemistry, and includes descriptive analysis and inferences. Its structure is conventional to bring the following items: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion. Systematic review and meta-analysis - Through the synthesis of results of original studies, quantitative or qualitative, objective and to answer the specific question of relevance to physical education. Describes in detail the search process from the original studies, the criteria used to select those that were included in the review and the procedures employed in the synthesis of the results obtained by the studies reviewed (which may or may not be procedures for meta-analysis). Narrative review/critique - A narrative review or critical review presents a descriptive, discursive, dedicated to the comprehensive presentation and discussion in topics of scientific interest in the area of Physical Education. Should present a clear formulation of the scientific object of interest, logical reasoning, critical theory and method of the studies reviewed and conclusive synthesis. Prepared by researchers with experience in the field in question or by researches with recognized expertise.

OPINION ARTICLE: Will be commissioned by the Editorial Board of notable individuals in the area of Physical Education and Sports Science, who issue their own opinions on topics of particular interest.

All papers submitted will be reviewed by at least two reviewers with expertise and professional competence in their area of work which will be used by editors to decide on acceptance. The criteria for evaluating the articles include: originality, contribution to knowledge in physical education, methodological consistence, clarity and timeliness. Articles accepted for publication will undergo editorial revisions to facilitate clarity and understanding without altering its contents.

Article submitted for publication must observe the Copyright Law, n.9.610 of February 19, 1998, as well as a review in Portuguese and English are responsibility of the authors.

The Journal of Physical Education / UEM requires that all proper procedures for obtaining informed consent and informed consent (IC) of the subjects for participation in the study have been adopted. No need to specify the procedures, but must be indicated in the text in the "Method" that the individuals consent was obtained, indicating that the study was approved by the Ethics in Research involving Humans, As well cite the number the protocol involving animal experiments must include a statement in the "Method" that the experiments were conducted in accordance with the regulations on the subject adopted in the country.

The authors are obliged to declare the assignment of copyright and that your manuscript is an original work, and not being subjected, in part or in whole, the analysis for publication in another journal. This statement will be required at time of article submission on Electronic System for Journal Publishing (SEER). The Journal reserves the copyright. Allows citations to your content on other vehicles of scientific and technical information, provided that the source is mentioned. The entries will be preliminarily examined by the Editorial Board. No need to recast, will be sent to the author for the necessary modifications, with 15 days to return. They would then be referred for up to three ad hoc consultants. Those accepted will be grouped in the section that best fit, the number that is being prepared or another the next. At the main author who has published your article will be provided a printed copy of the relevant issue of the magazine.

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

To facilitate the analytical work of the consultants, the texts submitted for publication must:

1. be entered into the text editor "Word for Windows 6.0 or higher, font Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 cm spacing between rows;
2. contain at most 20 pages including figures, graphs, tables and references;
3. the work should be formatted in A4 and margins lower, upper, left and right should be 2.5 cm;
4. tables, figures and graphs should be inserted in the text, just after mentioned;
5. the figures and tables should preferably 7.65 inches wide and should not exceed 16 cm;
6. the work must be submitted by this System On-Line.

Titles and abstracts

The first leaf, not numbered, shall contain:

1. title in Portuguese and English should be concise and representing the content of the work;
2. should indicate the full names of authors (no more than six authors), just below the title in English, listed in order of proportionality of involvement in the study. In a footnote, using * (asterisk) must contain the following items: type of link, last title, department and institution to which each author belongs, for example: PhD, Department of Physical Education at the Federal University of Piauí;
3. abstract in Portuguese and English, with a maximum of 150 words, followed by up to 3 keywords in both languages. Imperative to use the terms of the Health Sciences Descriptors (http://decs.bvs.br);
4. the end of the text after the references, add the full address of authors, including electronic and indicate the corresponding author.

Text

On the text, it requires:

1. in the quote verbatim, it is recommended to rule NBR-10520/2001. The entry of authors in the references should be identical to the citation in the text. The author's surname should be written with only the first letter capitalized, followed by year of publication of literature used, as in this example: Seidhl and Zannon (2004);
2. if the author's name and year are in parentheses, should be separated by a comma and semicolon between authors, in capital letters as in the example: (Romanzini et al., 2005; SANTINI; MOLINA NETO, 2005);
3. frames, tables and figures included in the text after mentioned, shall be numbered in Arabic numerals (with their respective captions);
4. graphs the points and lines should not be colored, must be legible and simplified to facilitate reduction;
5. not use footnotes in the text.

References

The references containing only those authors mentioned in the work should be presented in alphabetical order at the end of the work, according to ABNT-NBR-6023-2000.

Conditions to submission

As part of the submission process, the author as obliged to verify the comformity of the submission in relation to all the items listed below. The submissions that are not in accordance with the rules will be returned to the authors.

1. Submission files are in a format of Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF (since it does not go over 2MB);
2. All the Internet pages addresses (URLs), included in the text (Ex.: http://www.eduem.uem.br) are active and ready to be clicked.
3. The text is in 1,5 cm; uses a fount of 12 points; uses italic instead of underline (except the URL addresses); with figures and tables inserted in the text and not in it's end. With a maximum number of 20 pages.
4. The text follows the bibliographic standard style and requisitions described in Authors guidelines, in the section About the Journal.
5. Authors identification in the manuscript will be removed from the file and from the Word Properties by the editor responsible by the journal, assuring the secrecy of the journal because the blind evaluation is performed by peers.
6. The author should inform in the text's body (methods/methodology) the number referred to the Ethical Committee with Human Beings approval, and that the subjects signed the Free and Informed Consent.
7. The author who submitted the paper to evaluation must send by mail the Declaration of Transference of Submission Author Rights to the Journal of Physical Education/UEM. Without receiving this declaration the evaluation process will be archived.
8. The author who submitted the paper to the evaluation must send by mail the Letter of confirmation of the submission elaboration from the authors involved with the paper's construction. This letter must say that the submission is not under evaluation in another journal or that it has not been published previously. The signatures cannot be digitalized and must be from one's own wrist. Without receiving this declaration the evaluation process will be archived.

DELCARATION OF ORIGINALITY AND AUTHORS RIGHTS ASSIGNMENT

I declare that the paper entitled (include the papers title), under the ID (include paper's ID number) is original, and it has not been published in any other national or international journal, being just a part or it fullness. I also declare that once published in the Journal of Physical Education, edited by the State University of Maringá, it will never be submitted by me or anyone of the authors to any other journal. Through this instrument, in my name and in the names of the other authors, when there should be one, I assign the authors rights of the referred paper to the State University of Maringá and I declare be aware that not fulfilling this commitment will undertake the violator to the penal sanctions predicted by the Law of Authors Rights (No9610, from 19/02/98).
