Scope and politics
The Revista Soldagem & Inspeção has as its primary target audience researchers from Portuguese and ish speaking countries. Articles written in Portuguese, ish and English are accepted. There is no deadline for submitting articles (continuous flow). The interval between submission and possible final paper approval is around 3 to 10 months, with the entire process leading to publication (corrections by the authors, submission for graphic editing, etc.) is around 6 to 12 months. Submission and acceptance dates are indicated in the first page of each published articles. The Journal accepts original works that involve welding, inspection and related processes and which fall in one of the following categories: Scientific Articles: Articles that present developments accomplished through scientific methodologies. Review Articles: Articles that explore the evolution and current situation (the state of the art), based on previously published works on topics of interest. Review articles must present interpretation and critical analysis by the author. |
Submission
Manuscripts must be submitted through ScholarOne system. There is no fee for submission and review articles. When submitting the manuscript, the author must agree with the following statements:
Authors must inform the main contributions of each author in the article itself (more information in the section “Format and preparation of the manuscript”), as well as inform the contributions in the ScholarOne submission system. To define contributions, the Revista Soldagem & Inspeção recommends CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy). When submitting a manuscript, authors are required to provide a Cover Letter addressed to the Editors-in-Chief with the statements as mentioned above. In case of review, it is necessary to submit a document with the “Response to reviewers” in which the authors answer the reviewers' questions and highlight the changes made to the manuscript, highlighting in yellow, in order to meet the reviewers' requests. If the suggested modifications have not been made, the authors must justify their decision. Be sure to provide manuscript files in editable format (.doc or .docx is recommended) at each submission and review. Following SciELO's Open Science Policy, the Revista Soldagem & Inspeção accepts submissions of preprints from the SciELO Preprints platform, which can be done prior to or simultaneously with their submission. Sharing your preprint on this server will not count as a preprint. The Open Science Compliance Form must be completed and submitted as a supplementary file to the manuscript. When applicable, the authors must provide, at the time of submission in the ScholarOne system, in the form of a supplementary file, a document with the approval of the ethics committee relevant to the research. After starting the submission process, the authors agree that the copyright remains with the authors, however, they reserve the right to the first publication to the Revista Soldagem & Inspeção. |
Peer review process
All articles submitted for publication undergo an initial evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief and one of the Associate Editors (researchers specializing in different sub-areas of welding technology, inspection and related operations) who, recognizing their merits, sends the work to members of the Editorial Board. For publication it is necessary to obtain a favorable opinion from at least two members. Entire process is supervised by the Editor-in-Chief. The Editorial Board, with an autonomous decision, is constituted of researchers (minimum qualification of doctoral and recognized knowledge in the area), representing the different regions of the country and the main (from the point of view of welding technology) Portuguese and ish speaking countries. When the article is from a more specific area, "ad hoc" reviewers are selected and invited to issue an opinion. < style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">If both parties agree, the review process can be accomplished with direct interaction between the referees responsible for evaluating the manuscript (reviewers) and authors. Authors can express themselves through the Open Science Compliance Form. Reviewers communicate their intentions through the ScholarOne system. |
Editorial process
Members of the Editorial Board of the Revista Soldagem & Inspeção evaluate all the submitted works, considering, among others, aspects of relevance of the subject, originality and form of presentation of results and issue an opinion to the editor of the journal in a proper form, identifying the work and with only one of the following recommendations: Article not recommended for publication. Article recommended for publication with restrictions. Article recommended for publication without restrictions. Format and Manuscript Preparation
Manuscript Organization The manuscript must contain (in order): a) Title (in the original language of the article); b) Authors Information: full name, ORCID, affiliation (institution, city and country). In addition to this information, provide the corresponding author's email address; c) Abstract of 100 to 200 words (in the original language of the article); d) Keywords: from three to five (in the original language of the article); e) Introduction; f) Main text; g) Conclusions; h) Acknowledgments (optional); i) Declaration of the authors' contribution; j) References. It is recommended the use of Times New Roman font, size 11, double-spaced, A4 size sheet and equal margins of 2.5 cm. The main text should be organized into consecutively numbered sections (i.e.: 1. Introduction). Each section may be organized into subsections, numbered according to the decimal system (i.e.: 2.1. Experimental Methods). Other titles can be used for the items, according to the particularities of each article. Authors are free to organize their article in different forms. However, the Editorial Board of the Revista Soldagem & Inspeção may require alterations if the article is considered to be miss-organized. Units The international system of units (SI) should be used. If other quantities are mentioned, give their equivalent in SI. Citation of References References should be numbered consecutively, in the order in which they appear in the text, with the numbers contained in square brackets, e.g. [1], [1,2], [1,3-5], etc., right after the word. The same numbering should be used at the end of the article to list the references. In addition to the scientific literature, the Revista Soldagem & Inspeção encourages authors to cite adjacent content in order to promote the understanding of the research as well as its evaluation through data repositories. Authors may choose to keep these files closed until the article is approved and published. The author responsible for the submission must inform if the manuscript cites data, program codes and other materials underlying the article and their respective URLs. For this, the Revista Soldagem & Inspeção requests that the Open Science Compliance Form be duly completed and attached to the submission as a supplementary file for review. Equations Equations should be numbered according to their order of appearance in the article. It is recommended to justify the equation on the left and the number on the right. Tables Tables should be inserted in the main text, in the position that the author consider most convenient, and numbered sequentially, according to the order in which they are cited in the main text. Every table must contain a title, always positioned above (before) the table (without spaces), with a brief description of its content. Tables with more than 8 columns should be avoided. Table 1. Welding current values
Note: φ represents the electrode diameter.
Figures Figures must be numbered, quoted (Figure 1) and inserted in the main text. Each figure must have a caption located under the figure that describes its contents. If the article is approved for publication, high quality (at least 300dpi) files of the figures will be required. Pay attention to the need for a scale bar in images, such as weld bead, macro and micrographs images. The size of the font used in the Figures must be compatible with the main text, as well as the width of the images limited to the space equivalent to a column text (approximately 160 mm). Recommended formats for Figure files are “.jpg/jpeg” (recommended for photos), “.png” (recommended for graphics, schematics and screenshots) and “.tiff”.
