Scope

Trabalhos em Lingüística Aplicada is a biannual publication of the Department of Applied Linguistics of the Institute of Language Studies at Unicamp, with volumes published in June and December.

Throughout its twenty-year existence the journal has kept up a high level of academic quality. Its aim is to disseminate works in the field of Applied Linguistics concerning language issues involved in the teaching and learning of native and foreign languages, translation, identity, and other forms of asymmetrical interaction. The journal also publishes reviews of recent works within this area of interest.

Historical perspective

The journal "Trabalhos em Lingüística Aplicada" began in 1983, as an initiative of the Department of Applied Linguistics to publish and disseminate the research produced by its members and others working in the field. Little by little, the journal has come to acquire national and international renown. The articles portray the different theoretical/methodological trends in the field and enable the historical scenarios of Applied Linguistics in Brazil be identified and traced over the years. The varied approaches range from a perspective of linguistics theory applied to teaching/learning of native and foreign languages to an interdisciplinary one, in which analyses of the different social interaction situations mediated by language are considered, including theoretical/practical aspects of translation and identity issues.

Its abbreviated title is Trab. linguist. apl., which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.
