Observações sôbre a presença de anticorpos para Toxoplasma gondii em cães da área suburbana do Rio de Janeiro

Resumos

Os autores referem. os resultados da reação de Sdbín e Feldman efetuada no sôro de 101 cães de uma área suburbana do Rio de Janeiro. Encontraram resultado negativo em 21 cães (20,8%) e resultado positivo em 80 (79,2%). Os títulos da reação foram considerados positivos a partir da diluição 1:16 e não foi encontrado nenhum resultado poistivo em diluição igual ou superior a 1:4096. As diferenças nas proporções dos títulos negativos e positivos, em relação ao sexo dos animais, não foram significantes. Quanto à idade, foi observado um aumento significante na proporção de resultados positivos, entre os cães de idade igual ou superior a 5 anos, tendo sido mais evidente este aumento nos cães de idade igual ou superior a 7 anos. Entre os títulos positivos, a proporção da diluição 1:64 foi significantemente mais elevada nos cães de idade igual ou superior a 7 anos quando comparada a dos cães de idade menor. Êste dado vem demonstrar que foi principalmente às custas dêste título 1:64, que cresceu a proporção de cães positivos no grupo de animais ãe 7 anos e mais idade. A predominância de um título positivo não elevado neste grupo de animais, leva à suposição de que os cães, em sua maicria, infectaram-se quando mais jovens.

The authors report the results of the reaction of Sabin-Feldman carried out on the serum of 101 dogs in a süburb of Rio de Janeiro. They found a negative result in 21 dogs (20,8) and a positive result in 80 (79,2%). The titres of the reaction were considered positive from the dilution 1:16 and no positive result was found in an equal dilution or higher than 1:4096. The differences in the proportions of the negative and positive titres in relation to the sex of the animais were not significant. As to age, a significant increase in the proportion of positive results ivas observed among dogs of equal age or more than 5 years, this increase having been more evident in dogs of equal age or more than 7 years. Among the positive titres, the proportion of dilution 1:64 was significantly higher in the dogs of equal age or more than 7 years, when compared to that of the younger dogs. RESUMO

Os autores referem. os resultados da reação de Sdbín e Feldman efetuada no sôro de 101 cães de uma área suburbana do Rio de Janeiro. Encontraram resultado negativo em 21 cães (20,8%) e resultado positivo em 80 (79,2%). Os títulos da reação foram considerados positivos a partir da diluição 1:16 e não foi encontrado nenhum resultado poistivo em diluição igual ou superior a 1:4096. As diferenças nas proporções dos títulos negativos e positivos, em relação ao sexo dos animais, não foram significantes.

Quanto à idade, foi observado um aumento significante na proporção de resultados positivos, entre os cães de idade igual ou superior a 5 anos, tendo sido mais evidente este aumento nos cães de idade igual ou superior a 7 anos. Entre os títulos positivos, a proporção da diluição 1:64 foi significantemente mais elevada nos cães de idade igual ou superior a 7 anos quando comparada a dos cães de idade menor. Êste dado vem demonstrar que foi principalmente às custas dêste título 1:64, que cresceu a proporção de cães positivos no grupo de animais ãe 7 anos e mais idade. A predominância de um título positivo não elevado neste grupo de animais, leva à suposição de que os cães, em sua maicria, infectaram-se quando mais jovens.

ABSTRACT

The authors report the results of the reaction of Sabin-Feldman carried out on the serum of 101 dogs in a süburb of Rio de Janeiro. They found a negative result in 21 dogs (20,8) and a positive result in 80 (79,2%).

The titres of the reaction were considered positive from the dilution 1:16 and no positive result was found in an equal dilution or higher than 1:4096.

The differences in the proportions of the negative and positive titres in relation to the sex of the animais were not significant.

As to age, a significant increase in the proportion of positive results ivas observed among dogs of equal age or more than 5 years, this increase having been more evident in dogs of equal age or more than 7 years. Among the positive titres, the proportion of dilution 1:64 was significantly higher in the dogs of equal age or more than 7 years, when compared to that of the younger dogs. This result demonstrates that it was mainly because of this titre 1:64 that increased the proportion of positive dogs in the group of animais of 7 years or older.
