Uso prolongado de colírios antiglaucomatosos e eficácia da trabeculectomia

Long-term use of antiglaucoma eye-drops and trabeculectomy efficacy

RESUMO

Retrospectivamente, foram analisadas 284 trabeculectomias realizadas em glaucomas primários com o objetivo de avaliar a influência do tratamento pré-operatório prolongado com colírios antiglaucomatosos na eficácia do procedimento. 176 pacientes fizeram uso de medicação tópica por 26,5±20 meses e 45 por um período não superior a um mês. Constatou-se uma maior proporção de sucesso estatisticamente significante (96,29%) no grupo sem medicação em relação ao do grupo com medicação (83,91%). Os resultados sugerem que o uso prolongado de antiglaucomatosos tópicos pode predispor ao insucesso da cirurgia.

SUMMARY

Retrospectively, 284 trabeculectomies performed in primary glaucomas were studied for a purpose of analysing the influence of prolonged antiglaucoma topical medication in outcome of the procedure. 176 patients received antiglaucoma eye-drops for 26,5±20 months and 45 for a period less than 1 month. A greater and significative proportion of success were observed in nontreated eyes (96,29%) when compared with treated eyes (83,91%). The results suggest that prolonged antiglaucoma topical medication might be a predisposing factor to trabeculectomy failure.
