Dear Editor,
This week I received an email from fellow Ukrainian dermatologists, requesting additional guidance on the treatment of burn sequelae with a CO2 laser. These dermatologists were motivated to start a humanitarian project to treat people injured during the ongoing armed conflict in their country. They obtained our contact thanks to an article published in the Brazilian Journal of Plastic Surgery (RBCP, in portuguese).
I share this fact to encourage Brazilian plastic surgeons to report their experiences in this journal. Although we are slowly attaining an academic impact factor that attracts our high-profile university-based researchers, it is clear that the efforts in recent years of the editorial board of the RBCP and Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (SBCP, in portuguese) to translate our articles into English and provide online access has already attained a real impact factor - human - in this globalized world.
