The involucrum of the heads is made up of 8 - 10 seriate bracts. The flowers are yellow. The fruit is an acquenium, with a dark color and a red uniseriate pappus. The new species was named Stifftia Grazieli sp. nov., and is dedicated to the distinguished botanist Graziela Maciel Barroso of the Jardim Botânico of Rio de Janeiro.
