COSTA, Lucia Helena Rodrigues  and  COELHO, Edméia de Almeida Cardoso. Sexuality and the intersection with caring in the nurse’s professional practice. Rev. bras. enferm. [online]. 2013, vol.66, n.4, pp.493-500. ISSN 0034-7167.

This research aimed to analyze the intersection between sexuality and nursing care as a social practice. It has a qualitative approach, having as theoretical reference the Feminist Theory of the Point of View and gender as an analytical category. It was developed with nine nurses from Barbacena, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The empirical material was produced through life stories and analyzed through critical discourse analysis. The results show that sexuality has a transversality that crosses the ways of caring in their different manners and places: from the direct care with the body of the other to the difficulties presented by some nurses to deal with situations that do not fit to socially accepted norms of heterosexuality.

Keywords : Sexuality; Nursing Education; Gender and Health.
