This article approaches the discussion on education and knowledge focusing on the subject of the reiterated statement that present societies are "knowledge societies" on the world level. Thus, the first part of the text discusses this formulation, as well as the concept of "education", and its second part establishes the relationship between both of them, as well as the relationship between "education", school education in general and professional education in particular.
