A dream came true. It was the pleasing task of making available to the users technological information resources nationwide and overseas. In 1983, the Universidad de Colima, in one of the Mexican States, set up a General Direction of Library Development with the main goal of structuring university library systems as to supporting teaching and research. The project involved a hard work of training personnel, systematizing information, and raising funds for automation of Universidad de Colima library as a base for the first electronic library in Latin America, which was inaugurated on 1st of June of 1995. It is a large complex, built in a three thousand square meter area, with technological facilities for individual navigators as well as groups, including a 250 seat room for conference and/or congress. The challenges and perspectives of this new experience is to be able to count on innovating resources, training of personnel and users and adequate equipment to keep it going, increasing and updating.
