Upon facing an ever increasing globalization of the economy, obtaining information on the market where a company plays a role and on market strategies of competitors is a fundamental condition for gaining competitive advantages. Business Intelligence is a discipline that appears from this need, allowing for permanent monitoring of the company's environment by means of gathering, analyzing and validating information on competitors, clients, partners, suppliers and other actors, having in mind the objective of decreasing risks upon decision making by developing a knowledge basis about the business. This paper presents a conception for Business Intelligence turned to engineering investment management in the oil industry.
