Describes the Open Archives subproject and its implementation, under the coordination of the Brazilian Institute for Information on Science and Technology (IBICT).Besides it includes a brief history on this scientific communication channel. The Genetic community was selected to evaluate the experiment and the results were given. Future achievements intended by IBICT are presented.
