Abstract

This study proposed a method for building a regression model to determine the volume of total wood forest belonging to the Vochysia inundata Ducke (quaruba) species, according to their characteristics (diameter at breast height - DBH , Age and Height). The model was determined using the multivariate statistical technique of Factor Analysis with the Principal Components Method via Orthogonal Rotation from the Varimax Type for the Factors Extraction, seeking to circumvent the Multicollinearity problem. Finally, we developed a Simple Linear Regression model based on the Factorial Scores. The given model presented easy interpretation and usage, using a factor and providing a good fit (R² = 96%) to the data and with good predictive ability. It met all the theoretical assumptions for its existence and use.
