LILGE, Cláudio Gilnei; TILLMANN, Maria Ângela André; VILLELA, Francisco Amaral  e  DODE, Luciana Bicca. Identification of genetically modified rice seeds resistant to ammonium gluphosinate herbicide. Rev. bras. sementes [online]. 2003, vol.25, n.1, pp.87-94. ISSN 0101-3122.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0101-31222003000100014.

This research aimed to analyze the biotest technique as a routine procedure for testing genetically modified rice (Oryza sativa L.) seeds that are resistant to ammonium gluphosinate. Two assays were conducted based on the germination test. In the first assay moist germination paper with herbicide was used and in the second assay, the seeds were imbibed in herbicide solution. The seeds used were BR-IRGA 410 and the genetically modified line ABR 15 which contains the gene bar. In the first assay, ammonium gluphosinate concentrations between 0,0 and 0,2% were tested and in the second, the concentrations between 0,0 and 2,0%. The length of normal seedlings was analyzed after 7 and 14 days. It was concluded that both biotest techniques are efficient to identify in the germination test genetically modified seeds that are resistant to ammonium gluphosinate.
